Hi Monika and Saemivald — Your four videos are the best documentary of the transamerica trail that I have seen. I was surprised to see my face in the White Mills, Kentucky segment. There were so many sites that I remember from the trail .

Riding up from Vesuvius — that was an impressive achievement! I think you likely have three other achievements as well:
    1. First Icelandic couple to finish the transam
    2. The only person named Saemivald to finish the transam
    3. Most photogenic lady on the transam — Monika, of course

    Best regards….

    1. Hi Bruce,
Thank you for your wonderful comment. It was a great pleasure meeting you and thanks again for dinner!
I hope it was OK with you that we used the photo of the three of us.
I couldn´t agree more with item #3 on your list! 🙂

A quick question: How did you do the animation showing the airplane and the red line following your route? Our coronavirus restrictions here are providing me plenty of time to work on a movie about my ride across Kansas and eastern Colorado. We did it in May so we did not experience the extreme heat that you had although we had a couple of days over 32C.

Hi Monika and Saemivald, Your story was fantastic! Beautiful videos and really inspirational for those of us considering this amazing trip. Thank you so much for making this documentary of your journey.

I was wondering, you seem to have very little luggage! Did you bring a tent with you or did you stay in motels/fire stations/churches every night? I saw at one point you even got rid of your sleeping bags. How did you manage? Did you cook for yourselves or eat store-bought food? What I’m wondering really is how self-supporting you have to be to do this trip or can you survive with the infrastructure. Here in Europe, where I live, there’d be no problems, what with stores and restaurants every few miles, but not in Wyoming or places like that. Thanks much.

    1. Hi Crispy!

Thank you for your kind words. It was our pleasure to document and an added bonus that it can be entertaining and informational for others.

We were extremely selective about or luggage and in hindsight we were fortunate that we didn´t run into situations where we needed something we should have brought with us. We kept hearing of others saying that they overpacked so we went the opposite direction! 🙂

We packed a tent, mats and sleeping bags although we slept in motels, firestations and motels for many nights. We never got rid of the sleeping bags but we did ship home some of the warmer clothing as we got out of the mountains and into late july.

We didn´t bring any cooking equipment so we bought most of our food from restaurants or made our own sandwiches which we packed and ate during the day/evening. We made sure to have nuts, M&Ms and energy bars in case we didn´t come across any gas stations or stores and only once went to bed a bit hungry.

      Hope this helps!
